DataReady works closely with GPSDD and the UN Statistics Division to develop and promote data interoperability in the development sector. By coordinating and managing a data collaborative on interoperability, drafting specialised guidance and supporting its implementation in country, we are contributing to a development sector in which data is more timely, complete and seamlessly integratable across communities of practice.
The Collaborative on SDG Data Interoperability proves that through collaboration and dialogue across policy and technical communities, it is possible to overcome complex data governance challenges.
Tom has driven this work forward, expertly combining policy know-how with complex technical issues and an excellent ability to manage relationships.
Our Director, Tom Orrell, has worked with GPSDD since 2016 to promote the importance and need for data interoperability to help achieve and monitor the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
DataReady manages the Collaborative on SDG Data Interoperability on behalf of GPSDD, in partnership with the UN Statistics Division. Together, they have produced detailed policy guidance on interoperability for sustainable development practitioners. We are now supporting GPSDD’s efforts to test this guidance in Kenya and elsewhere, with the aim of improving how data is governed, shared and used in pursuit of development objectives.
To promote the interoperability of official statistics, Tom represents the Collaborative on the UN Statistical Commission’s Friends of the Chair Group on the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics and Open Data, an intergovernmental process aimed at promoting greater openness in, and access to, official statistics.
